Perched above the lush jungle canopy of Mexico's Quintana Roo, The Esencia Mansion, housed at Hotel Esencia, is the ultimate expression of understated grandeur. Conceived by visionary owner Kevin Wendle in collaboration with New York-based designer Giancarlo Valle, the home extends to a breathtaking rooftop terrace with panoramic ocean views and one-of-a-kind details in every corner.

The Mansion’s primary suite flows through several connected spaces: the living room bathes in natural light while the adjacent library contains a curated collection of more than 500 books, including antique rarities and signed hardcovers. Each space transitions effortlessly into the next, creating an environment where sophisticated design meets calming functionality.

Every bedroom has its own private entrance while remaining internally connected throughout the home, creating the perfect layout for family getaways or group stays with friends. Courtesy of Hotel Esencia.

The bedroom features dramatic vaulted ceilings that create an airy, cathedral-like atmosphere. The headboard of the room's vast king-sized bed is comprised of tiles sourced from Puebla, Mexico. For some added drama, a bespoke wool carpet hand-woven in Oaxaca by Bi Yuu, Marisol Centeno’s textile studio, charms the space with character and comfort, while works by French visual artist, Benoît Maire, and furniture by Charlotte Perriand reflect Wendle's sophisticated eye for interior design. The en suite bathroom spotlights a double vanity carved from a single block of Crema Maya limestone, the region's prized natural stone, transforming a functional element into a striking work of art.

Completing the home's distinctive interiors is an eclectic collection that spans continents and centuries—hand-carved African sculptures, Mexican Talavera pottery with its cobalt glazes and intricate patterns, and refined Japanese wood sculptures by Ryosuke Yazaki.

On the terrace, the spacious shower and steam chamber showcase ceramic artwork by Marcel Dzama, the renowned Canadian contemporary artist. His whimsical creations depict the native wildlife that roams throughout the estate.

With every intentional element of The Esencia Mansion, Wendle and Valle have successfully created a residence that is worldly yet intimate—a seamless blend of global artistry and organic tranquility.
