On the evening of May 11th, Assouline and Colour Themes came together at Casa Cipriani's Jazz Café to celebrate the launch of Basquiat: The World of Jean-Michel, a title as colorful as the artist himself.

Against the backdrop of Lower Manhattan, 70 guests, collectors, contributors, and longtime friends of both houses, gathered for cocktails surrounded by curated displays of the book. Among them: David Galperin, Vice Chairman and Head of Contemporary Art at Sotheby's New York; Ashkan Baghestani, Head of the Contemporary Art Day Sale at Sotheby's; noted collector and ArtNews Top 200 honoree Bill Bell; developer and Newcastle United co-owner Jamie Reuben; and master jeweler Glenn Spiro of House Glenn Spiro.

As the evening moved inside to the seated dinner, welcome remarks from CJ Jones and Philip Rebeiz set the tone: a celebration of collaboration, of artistry, and of a man whose work continues to pulse through culture decades after he made it.
