Assouline celebrated the launch of Madrid Chic at El Corte Inglés Castellana, where author Cristina Carrillo de Albornoz hosted an intimate book signing. The event took place at Assouline’s special corner of the department store, bringing together Madrid Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida Navasqüés and El Corte Inglés Director Angel Jimenez.
Guests gathered for informal remarks from Jimenez, the Mayor, and Albornoz before enjoying an evening of wine and canapés. As Albornoz signed copies throughout the evening, attendees explored Madrid Chic's rich portrait of the capital's architectural grandeur, fashion heritage, and contemporary cultural renaissance. The book artfully weaves together poetic accounts from the likes of Ernest Hemingway and Pablo Neruda, alongside insights from notable locals such as esteemed film director Pedro Almodóvar and Michelin star chef Quique da Costa. Albornoz, a Madrid-born art curator and former United Nations diplomat, has authored numerous books for Assouline and curated exhibitions at major institutions worldwide.
