For a snowy season on the slopes and an abundance of upscale dining and shopping, Gstaad is the ideal winter destination for those who enjoy the outdoors with a hint of sophisticated luxury. Nestled between the Swiss Alps, the town keeps its timeless charm year after year, enchanting visitors with its wooden chalets, picturesque natural landscapes, and a downtown promenade full of galleries, artisan shops, and luxury stores.

To curate the ultimate itinerary, we turned to insider Dr. Barbara Sturm, the founder of the namesake skincare brand, who calls Gstaad her home away from home. Explore the area through her eyes, and discover all of Sturm's must-visit spots, including where she goes for a bit of culture, as well as her product essentials during the winter season.

What is one place that visitors in Gstaad wouldn't think of going to?  We like to take the gondola from Wispile station to the summit—the views at the top are wonderful, and then you can ski or walk for an hour into the valley and take a powder run to Gsteig. If you happen to be there in the summer, there is a trail I often do that takes you from Gstaad to Arnensse where there is a beautiful lake you can swim in.

Describe Gstaad in three words: Snow, sun, life.

When I want a fabulous brunch, I make a reservation at: Le Grand Bellevue.

I feel most at home when I go to: My chalet. It's super cozy and chic.

A place I go to relax when I have a day off: I'll go skiing and have a nice lunch at the Club de Luge. Skiing is one of my many passions and when I have time off, I love to be in the mountains. I feel at home there.

I wish I had more time to: I love spending time in nature, thinking and dreaming about things and gathering energy for the day. I wish I had more time to go hiking.

A must-visit dinner spot is: Hotel Olden is the most charming restaurant and serves the best Italian food. And La Fromagerie at Gstaad Palace is super fun. It has a traditional and rustic setting, and they offer a few different types of fondue, including champagne and truffle and my personal favorite, the Chinese fondue.

When I want to feel cultured, I visit: Gstaad has some great galleries like Gagosian and Maddox. Some friends of mine work there so I always stop by to see the new collections.

A fun place for cocktails is: The Lobby Bar at Gstaad Palace Hotel is a cool spot for an apéritif, and there is an amazing nightclub there called GreenGo Club if you want to party!

My favorite spa is: Le Grand Spa is a must and offers STURM facials and some amazing wellness treatments like red light therapy, steam baths, and an ice fountain.

A perfect day in Gstaad looks like this: I’d head to Eggli for a morning of skiing with my daughters, Pepper and Charly, and we’d then have lunch at the Club de Luge before visiting the spa for a swim and sauna. In the evening, we’d all head back to the chalet for board games like backgammon, enjoy a cozy dinner and then snuggle up in bed.

The best place to go shopping is: The Village Centre. I'll stop by the Trois Pommes department store which has some cool things. I also like to go to Moncler for high-tech ski suits and jackets.

My go-to beauty products during the winter season are: I use my Dr. Barbara Sturm Face Mask pretty much every morning. I use the Calming Serum and Enzyme Cleanser even more often, and I boost hydration with the Hyaluronic Serum. And of course, the Sun Drops SPF50 are a must have!
